
Mitch Jones, BSc, MEng, PhD, MD
President and Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Mitch Jones is a physician-scientist, biotechnology executive, inventor, and serial entrepreneur with extensive experience building and advancing innovative therapeutics for inflammatory, autoimmune, and fibrotic diseases, with particular expertise in inflammatory bowel disease. As President and Chief Medical Officer of Palisade Bio, he leads clinical development, regulatory strategy, translational medicine, and medical affairs, while helping shape the company’s corporate strategy and pipeline expansion.
Dr. Jones has a distinguished record of translating scientific innovation into differentiated clinical programs, advancing therapeutics from discovery through clinical development, and creating value through regulatory approvals, strategic transactions, venture financing, and public-market execution.
Before joining Palisade Bio, Dr. Jones served as Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy at Chemomab Therapeutics, where he helped direct corporate strategy, clinical program development, business development, and strategic partnerships. His work supported the advancement and positioning of Chemomab’s clinical-stage programs in inflammatory and fibrotic diseases, as well as the company’s financing and M&A activities.
Previously, Dr. Jones held senior leadership roles at Finch Therapeutics and Biora Therapeutics, formerly Progenity. At Finch, he served as Vice President of Clinical Discovery and Development, helping advance novel therapeutics for IBD, chronic hepatitis B, and solid-tumor immunotherapy. He also contributed to the company’s growth and successful initial public offering, which raised more than $120 million.
At Biora, Dr. Jones served as Vice President of Innovation and Clinical Translational Development after initially building the company’s gastrointestinal therapeutics division as Vice President of Translational and Clinical Development. He led the development and early clinical evaluation of the company’s NaviCap™ and BioJet™ technology platforms for tofacitinib and adalimumab biosimilar, including proof-of-concept studies and strategic development roadmaps for IBD. He raised more than $125 million from venture investors and played a pivotal role in leading the company through an initial public offering of more than $100 million.
Dr. Jones also founded Interface Therapeutics, where he developed a novel gastrointestinal sampling platform designed to enable multi-omic analysis directly within the GI tract and accelerate the discovery of locally acting therapeutics for IBD. Interface Therapeutics was subsequently acquired by Progenity. Earlier, he founded Micropharma, where he led the development of microbiome-based interventions for metabolic and inflammatory diseases, secured regulatory approvals, and developed LRC™, an FDA-cleared product now commercialized globally by Chr. Hansen.
Dr. Jones is an inventor on nearly 200 patents and patent applications and has authored numerous scientific publications. He holds BSc, MEng, PhD, and MD degrees, bringing a distinctive combination of engineering, scientific, clinical, entrepreneurial, and capital-markets expertise to the development of next-generation therapies for IBD and other serious inflammatory and fibrotic diseases.
